       Pre­SAFL is a program designed for 7th grades (and above).  The program offers several options that can facilitate subsequent admission to the SAFL program offered by Samskrita Bharati, USA. The Beginner level introduces the language.  The Intermediate level builds upon substantial prior knowledge to help prepare for the 200 level direct entry exam conducted by SAFL. The Integrated Class combines the Beginner and Intermediate level instructions.  The subsequent move to SAFL is optional, and is the responsibility of the students.

[For students interested in getting admission directly to second year SAFL next academic year (2018-2019).  Prior knowledge of Samskritam is REQUIRED.]

Pre­SAFL ­ Integrated (Based on Minimum 5 participants)

 

Pre­SAFL program G1 (Integrated Level Batch 1 ­ October 2017)

[For students interested in pursuing Samskritam that can potentially culminate in preparation for the direct entry exam (to gain admission directly to second year SAFL next academic year (2018-2019).  Prior knowledge of Samskritam is not required, but will be an advantage.  The classes will appear to be relatively fast paced for those with no prior knowledge.]

Sundays - 7:30 PM ET (4:30 PM PT) - October 1st to May 20th (24 weeks spread over 8 months - Fees - 275$)

7:30 PM to 8:30 PM ET (4:30 PM to 5:30 PM PT)

What to Expect, and Student Responsibilities

 

 Pre­SAFL Beginner ­ Contents

This course will help students interested in joining the SAFL program to get introduced to Samskritam.  Classes will take place every Sunday evening.  It is the student's responsibility to attend the classes.  This program is graded and continuously assessed.  The various aspects that will be graded are: attendance, homework, class participation, and 2 tests.

Attendance - 75% attendance  - 10 marks
Homework - 15 marks
Class Participation - 15 marks
Test 1 - Mid course  - 30 marks
Test 2 - End of Course - 30 marks

At the end of this course, the student is expected to gain familiarity with the devanagari script, read fairly well, write fairly well, and, be eligible to take the Pre-SAFL residential camp attendance waiver.  Please Note:  There is no substitute to attending the residential camps.  This program is to help those who are unable to make it to the camp for various reasons.  It is the student's responsibility to apply for SAFL and camp waiver.

Any student that scores 60 and above will be considered as having completed the course.  Course completion certificates  will be emailed to them.  (Completed = 60 & above, less than 80).  First Class = Above 80 and less than 90.  Distinction = 90 and above)

The $200 fee is non-refundable, and payable at the time of registration.  It includes study material.

 

 

Pre­SAFL Intermediate ­ Contents

This course is designed for students who would like to directly enroll in 2nd Year SAFL by applying for and successfully completing the direct entry exam.  Students are expected to be familiar with Devanagari script as well as basic skills in spoken Samskritam. This course will help such students to refresh their samskritam knowledge and prepare them for taking the the direct entry exam (equivalent of completing SAMS101 and SAMS102). Classes will take place every week.  It is the student's responsibility to attend the classes.  This program is graded and continuously assessed.  The various aspects that will be graded are: attendance, homework, class participation, and 3 tests - one at the start, one at the end of 2 months, and one at the end of the course.

Attendance - 75% attendance  - 10 marks

Homework - 15 marks

Class Participation - 15 marks

Test 1 - Entry time - 20 marks

Test 2 - Mid course  - 20 marks

Test 3 - End of Course - 20 marks

At the end of this course, the student is expected to have strengthened prior knowledge, and gained additional knowledge to be able to successfully take the direct entry exam.  Please Note:  There is no substitute to attending the complete SAFL program.  This program is to help those who have prior knowledge, and ready or almost ready for the second year's curriculum.  It is the student's responsibility to actually study, apply for SAFL and write the the direct entry exam.

This course is designed for students who would like to pursue Samskritam all through the academic year.  Based on individual effort, the student may gain the knowledge to apply for the direct entry exam that will allow them to directly enroll in 2nd Year SAFL once they clear the exam.  Students will be taught the Devanagari script as well as basic skills in spoken Samskritam. This course will further prepare them for taking the direct entry exam (equivalent of completing SAMS101 and SAMS102). Classes will take place every week.  It is the student's responsibility to attend the classes.  This program is graded and continuously assessed.  The various aspects that will be graded are: attendance, homework, class participation, and 3 tests - one at the start, one at the end of 3 months, and one at the end of the course.
